The diffusion of public policies and the work developed together with the private sector to achieve the reduction of accident to those working in the mining sector is one of the values Sernageomin highlights from its participation in Expomin.
Being in charge of one of the main entities that involve the national mining sector, as it is Sernageomin, Alejandro Vio has made it a mission to further support the development of one of the main economic activities in Chile, with the reassurance of having the experience, the knowledge and skills that only those who have been more than three decades in the mining industry have reached.
In 1980, SERNAGEOMIN was created from the union of the Geological Research Institute and the Department of Mines of the State, with the goal of being the technical adviser of the Ministry of Mines specialized in geological and mining matters.
One of its main missions is to exercise public oversight of environmental and safety conditions in mining and deliver technical assistance in matters of constitution of the mineral property in order to meet the demands of State institutions, public and private companies, and individuals involved in the mining sector, contributing to national development in a social, economic and environmentally sustainable condition.
For Sernageomin, it is indisputable the attraction that Expomin creates in the mining world as exhibiting the most important high technologies in Latin America. However, the importance for Sernageomin also lies in how during development, the event becomes the center where are discussed, disseminated and projected mining issues. "It's one of the most important meeting points of the mining sector, not only in technological or commercial terms, but also as a place where interesting discussions are held on the present and future of mining in the country and the world”, says Alejandro Vio.
How does Expomin contribute to the work of Sernageomin?
Certainly, this fair is an excellent showcase to exhibit the work performed by our Institution in all the themes of our competence: mining property, mining safety, environment and geology for mineral exploration, among others.
It also allows the dissemination of various public policies of the State towards the sector. In our case, working in conjunction with the private sector to achieve the ultimate goal of reducing accidents of people working in the mining sector and, indeed, the search for mechanisms to promote the development of geological activity in the country.
What is the significance of events like Expomin for the development of the sector?
The days EXPOMIN develops, Santiago focuses the attention in mining to a regional level, generating contacts and business for millions of dollars, driving the development of markets across Latin America. The above, gives its significance meantime, year to year growth is noted at the fair, as the number of visits and the importance of the exhibitors taking part in it.
Finally, what are your expectations for this version of Expomin?
We hope that this Expomin, the Bicentennial version, is at the same level of the previous ones, which have always been remarkable for the quality of the general organization and, in particular, for the high standard of the forums that are generated. |
