The magnitude of expectations generated in the mining market by each new generation of EXPOMIN, this being the eleventh, is not just gauged at the exhibition grounds of the prestigious Espacio Riesco Event Center in the next few months. This largest mining exhibition in Latin America can also boast the fact that it has already become the largest in its history. Five months before its opening, 85% of its exhibition space is already confirmed.
With the addition of companies from countries newly incorporated into the event, such as; Italy, France, and the UK; the number of engaged firms thus far totals, 960.
With the arrival of 60 000 professionals, and over 5 000 brands from 35 countries, EXPOMIN will host more than 1 200 companies spread over a total area of
60 000 square meters.
With respect to the challenges for 2010, Parada comments, “In recent years, Latin America has become the world’s largest producer of metals, the main destination for investment in exploration, in project development, and the third largest focus point for world-class mining companies and suppliers. Many of these companies are establishing Chile as their platform. Given this scenario, the challenge for 2010 is for EXPOMIN to expand its strength as the global center for mining.
The event has earned the leadership role in the field of mining expositions by being the representative of technological innovations available to the mining industry. Its drawing power attracts the spectrum of industry suppliers who offer the widest range of products and services to optimize the processes of extraction and production of copper.
Furthermore, “The celebration of Chile’s bicentennial next year adds an extra dimension of character to EXPOMIN 2010. Undoubtedly, this is an opportunity to highlight the role that mining has had for the last 200 years, emphasizing the impact generated by the economic and social development of the country (Chile).” (Carlos Parada)
Organized since 1990 by FISA S.A., a leader for 45 years in the business of Latin American expositions, EXPOMIN has enjoyed an undisputed high post in the scope of the international mining community, positioning itself as one of the greatest centers for global mining. The event has had an enormous impact on the growth of the mining sector, the national economy of Chile, and the development of mining culture. Additionally, it has helped to nurture relationships among the industry groups.
This event also provides the venue where the main topics of the industry and mining knowledge are generated. These will form part of the economic, political, and technological discussions within the field.
At the last EXPOMIN, conducted in 2008, the record attendance of 51 000 professionals was achieved, which includes 34 000 certified participants. All projected business expectations were exceeded to the amount of USD$1.3 Billion.
