Grupo Calidra has established itself as one of the most important world-class industrial lime producers in the Southern Cone, the most prominent in Latin America in the production of lime, ready mixes, carbonates and high specification products. The company produces high grade limes unique in the market thanks to a production process that uses the latest calcination technologies (Maerz vertical double vat Parallel Regenerative Flow kilns), a raw material from deposits of 96~98% CaCO3 purity and more than 100 years of reserves. True to its motto ‘Always there’, the Group is a key partner of strategic industries such as construction, steel and mining. Its product OXID (calcium quicklime) is a key chemical for copper, lithium, silver and gold mining, as its high reactivity and low impurity content allows for higher performance and lower losses for its mining customers. In Chile, the world’s leading copper producer, it has been supplying this industry with an annual average of between 350,000 tn and 380,000 tn of lime in the last three years. For lithium production in Chile and Argentina, it also supplies a premium version of OXID, which is essential for its customers, as a lime with low impurities ensures that the lithium hydroxide is not contaminated and increases the productivity of the lithium carbonate plant. Calidra also supplies calcium hydroxide (slaked lime) to the mining industry under its QUIMEX INDUSTRIAL and QUIMEX 90 brands, which are used, among other things, in water treatment, desalination and gas treatment. In addition, the company produces the full range of granulometries required by both mining sectors (0-10 mm, 3-10 mm, 0-6 mm and premium pulverised). High storage capacity, robust logistics and efficient delivery are other attributes that set the company apart. If the five distribution centres in Chile are added, the company can stockpile more than 50,000 tonnes of lime. In the Noviciado de Chile Industrial Plant alone, where it is classified, it is capable of storing 32,000 tonnes. Grupo Calidra owns its own silo trucks, while another strength of its logistics is its versatility between entry and exit points in Chile and Argentina. In addition to supplying by land, it can supply its customers by sea, through the ports of Iquique, Antofagasta, San Antonio and Coronel. And, on the other hand, it has Trinorma certification in its operations, consisting of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management), ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health and Safety). In terms of its sustainability goals, the lime company works every day to be a sustainable company, in line with its commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050. For this reason, it carries out actions that seek to balance growth with care for the environment and social well-being. In short, the Calidra Group’s value offer focuses on offering solutions for its customers, as well as optimising its production so that they can concentrate on their core business.
