Everything is ready for the eighteenth edition of Expomin, the largest and most influential mining fair in Latin America, which returns to Espacio Riesco in 2025 with numerous activities and an International Congress. The exhibition will feature more than 1,300 exhibiting companies and the participation of more than 35 countries. From Tuesday April 22 to Saturday April 26 (8:30 to 18:00 hrs), the venue located on El Salto Avenue will be the epicenter of the mining industry, bringing together in its more than 120,000 m2 of exhibition space companies, leaders, specialists and the general public in an event that promises to mark a before and after in the way of understanding and projecting the mining industry of the future. Among the novelties of the 2025 edition of Expomin, the following stand out: XVIII International Congress “Reimagining Mining in Latin America” The new edition of Expomin’s International Congress will be organized jointly with Anglo American and chaired by Patricio Hidalgo, executive president of the company in Chile. This space will bring together leaders, authorities and specialists from around the world to discuss the major issues of the sector: technology, sustainability, global challenges and the future of mining in Latin America. The meeting will include the participation of prominent national and international speakers, such as Vikram Mansharamani, an expert in disruption and global trends; Andrew Winston, a world reference in corporate sustainability; and Zack Kass, former Director of Market Strategy at OpenAI, who will deliver an optimistic view on the impact of artificial intelligence. Expomin 2025 measures its carbon footprint Measuring and neutralizing Expomin’s carbon footprint reflects the commitment to a conscious mining industry that promotes sustainable practices for future generations. Expomin established an alliance with Colbún to neutralize greenhouse gases. This implies that Colbún will measure and neutralize the emissions/carbon footprint. What does the neutralization process consist of? Once the total greenhouse gas emissions that make up the carbon footprint have been calculated -during the different stages of the event, from set-up, event and dismantling, to the participation of exhibitors and the transportation used- they will be compensated by means of carbon credits. This will neutralize the total carbon footprint of the event. The carbon credits come from the Hornitos power plant, a Colbún hydroelectric plant located in the Valparaíso Region. In addition, the carbon footprint and its mitigation will be certified through the HuellaChile Program, an initiative managed by the Ministry of the Environment. Pavilions and networking: Innovation Pavilion: Chilean technology with a mining seal One of the great novelties of this edition is the ChileMining METS Innovation Pavilion, a space that will bring together 49 mining technology suppliers. For the first time, this group of entrepreneurs and startups will have the opportunity to present their developments to the main players in the sector, generate networks and publicize their progress. This initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Mining, Corporación Alta Ley and FISA, seeks to strengthen the innovative ecosystem around the national mining industry. ProChile Business Roundtable It is one of the main activities of internationalization 2025 for the mining solutions sector. ProChile exclusively invites Expomin Exhibitors to manage their own agenda of meetings and connect commercially with more than 10 potential international counterparts from the main buyer countries of the sector, such as Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, Canada and Finland, among others. Despega tu PYME Pavilion With the strategic support of FISA and Yale University, more than 115 SMEs will participate, an essential engine for the economic growth and sustainable development of the industry in Chile. Guest country: Finland and its commitment to sustainability Finland will be the guest of honor at Expomin 2025 and will present its program “Finland Mining Tech Summit: Innovation and Sustainability”, which will take place on Tuesday, April 23. This will include a technical seminar with 33 talks in the Aurora, Sisu and Suomi halls, located on level -1 of Espacio Riesco. The talks will address topics such as energy efficiency, electromobility, process digitalization, circular economy and climate change mitigation. Mobility Plan: getting to Expomin will be easier and more sustainable In order to facilitate access to the venue and reduce the use of private vehicles, Expomin 2025 will implement a comprehensive Mobility Plan, developed in collaboration with companies such as RedBus, Metro de Santiago, Parque Arauco, Aeropuerto Nuevo Pudahuel, Uber, Cabify, WeTransport and Turistik. This strategy seeks to optimize the travel experience of attendees, promoting the use of more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options.
